today we're gonna talk about punching down a patch panel hi my name is Craig Rashad and I am the electrical instructor today we're going to talk about punching down a patch panel well what's a patch panel a patch panel is nothing more than a connection that is made by your server or switches and what we're trying to do is bring our information or switching from the patch panel out to our workstation so you know when you plug in your computer in at school work home wherever you may be it's information got to come from somewhere well that information when you plug it into the wall or your workstation that runs back to a patch panel which is then patched to another piece of equipment which then hold your data or phone or whatever it may be why do we need them well we need them because without this we don't know where they're gonna be connected we can't just put everything under a big wire
