In this video i'll show you how to build
the PUMA Abbe condenser and fit it to a PUMA Foundation scope. The Abbe condenser
lets you use higher magnification objectives and specialist forms of microscopy like dark
ground illumination and Schlieren phase contrast. This is the first in a series of videos
that document the PUMA illumination system. The illumination system comprises a large set
of many options and so it was given its own development name: the 'Dominus Illumination System'.
For that reason you will see that all the PUMA CAD models pertaining to illumination are prefixed
with 'DI' which stands for Dominus Illuminator. The PUMA Foundation scope
has a mirror illuminator only - there is no substage lens system. This means
that it can only give good quality images with relatively low magnification objectives.
