Ensuring top-flight sound, two pairs of Yamaha's high-precision, single-bit, digital-to-analog converters accurately convert a disc's digital signals to audio. And only the music will be heard, thanks to Yamaha's silent drive mechanism. Meanwhile, the player's intelligent digital servo system automatically adjusts tracking, focus, and motor speed to compensate for disc defects, warpage, and dust. With 40-track programming, songs can be sequenced for a custom music mix from the remote control, programming any combination of tracks from the five discs. Play mixes back on the CDC-506--it's compatible with audio CD-Rs and CD-RWs. Peak search finds the highest output levels on disc selections, helping set the proper recording level on a CD recorder (when using the analog audio inputs) or on a cassette recorder. If you're using a Yamaha cassette deck, a feature called Synchro Start automatically kicks it into record mode before the CDC-506 plays the CD selections, giving one-touch recording from the remote control.
