hey there in this video we're gonna talk about this little ferrite core noise filter the little black cylinder got a couple of pieces of ceramic inside of it and if you have a Polycom phone or any other voice over IP phone you may have found one of these in the package and you're wondering what to do with this so what this does is it acts as a noise filter against high frequency interference and where does it go well where it goes is on the cable that leads from the voice over IP phone to the computer not the cable that goes from the phone to the wall that's not what we're trying to filter what we're trying to do is clamp this little filter on to the voice over IP cable I'm sorry the network cable that's gonna go from the phone into the computer okay so now that's clamped on there alright so this end right here closest to the noise filter goes in to the back of the phone on the port tha
