here is my celestron next are se which I love except for the infamous red dot finder scope this finder scope seems to frustrate everyone with its inability to align objects so let me share a quick fix that worked for me now here's the problem that we're going to fix when you align your telescope you start by centering a distant earthbound object in your eyepiece now when you look through the finder scope you find that there's not enough adjustment range to get your laser dot centered on the object this is hugely frustrating this is the base plate of the scope which is adjusted by two knobs the forward knob moves in side to side the rear knob moves it up and down it's this rear knob that lacks the range you need to Center the dot it turns out the finder scope itself is not quite aligned with the telescope tube here's the quick fix loosen these two screws on the mounting bracket make a sh
