hi guys welcome back to the art of server and welcome back to part two of the r810 storage upgrade series so in the last video i showed you guys how to upgrade the r820 from a raid controller to an itmode hba controller and so now we have a bunch of ssds in here with an it mode 9207 8i controller so that this machine can be ready for something like zfs or proxmox with zfs so in today's video i'm going to take this upgrade path up one more notch and one of the things that i want to share with you guys that's kind of a little bit of a trick of the trade is that when you have a direct attached back plane so this back plane here is an 8 bay back plane and there are two cable connections that go into the back of this thing as you saw in the last video that means that every sas lane in those cables is directly connected to each of these ports and so there really is no sas expander or anything
