PF diagnose has three protocol settings je 1708 j1939 and obd2 the 6-pin Deutsch connector is always associated with je 1708 only this is used in older highway tractors the 9-pin Deutsch connector is j1939 or je 1708 depending on the age of the tractor this is also used for industrial equipment obd2 is used for light and medium duty vehicles please note that some medium duty vehicles may use the 9 pin or the 6 pin depending on the manufacturer if the vehicle you are diagnosing has a 6 pin deutsche connector the only protocol available on the 6 pin connector is je 1708 therefore you should select je 1708 only npf diagnose if the vehicle you are diagnosing has a 9 pin deutsche connector the protocol could be je 1708 or it could be j1939 this connector is generally found in newer vehicles industrial equipment and agricultural equipment j1939 is the newer high-speed protocol in PF diagnosis
