what's up guys brad here with shiny tech things where we take things seriously and on today's show i got a new modem now for the past several months with everybody been working from home it seems like there's just never enough bandwidth so i call it my isp and of course i complain i pay for 300 and 30 up and i'm only getting about two thirds of that speed directly connected to my modem which is also fine i can't get the speeds that i pay for so the question then becomes do i need docsis 3.1 over docsis 3 let's find out first and foremost i'm going to go ahead and benchmark my local network i'm running an open speed test running inside of a container running on a vm that i'm basically running this speed test inside of a docker container so as you can see it's pretty close to full gigabit speed now i will go ahead and do the internet speed test directly with the isp now just for kicks her
