hi my name is matthew with garmin product support and today i'm going to share some important steps to help care for your garmin device [Music] the first step in taking care of your garmin device is ensuring your garmin device maintains a proper battery charge it is important to connect your garmin device to power in your vehicle before turning it on for the first time avoid using a splitter your garmin device should be plugged directly into the vehicle a lightning bolt within the battery icon will verify your garmin device is properly connected to power and receiving a charge it also ensures your cable is working properly and the connection to your garmin device is secure your garmin device is designed to be used in your vehicle connected to power but many of our devices can run on battery power for up to one hour with a full charge there are two ways to conserve the charge on your bat
