hi folks let's take this chunk of aluminum and turn it into this heatsink we're going to use a 4 inch slitting saw actually think it's called a side milling cutter and this 1/8 inch lakeshore carbide in the middle to do the majority of the work let's do this whole job soup-to-nuts though on video welcome to another Wednesday widget so this was a customer job and they need a custom heatsink made you know don't ask questions when we first ran the sim I thought well I can't get the slitting sauce to work I want to see will it work with an adaptive strategy where you're doing everything with a 1/8 inch end mill I have no doubt we could get that to work the problem is you look at the machining time it's something like 11 hours it's just not fun to do and you the bottom of this slot is just under 160 so a 3/16 tool wouldn't work and 1/8 in starts to get a little bit more fragile so if you guy
