Bughunter BDA-3 is designed to protect expected private conversations from eavesdropping. The BugHunter BDA-3 blocks wireless microphones, tape recorders, hard-wired microphones, and professional digital recorders; including app recorders installed on mobile phones (smart phones/devices ). The Ultrasonic silent waves and the acoustic speech-like waves can be used in conjunction to effectively jam eavesdropping devices. Additional ultrasonic units (sold separately) can extremely increase microphone suppression on bugs/recorders designed to record human speach frequencies. Operation: The device should be placed so that the transducers will be directed towards possible location(s) of eavesdropping devices (digital recorders, microphone, "bugs" etc.), for example, towards hot spots where visitors or clients stand/sit during a conversation. The optimal distance from the transducers to the microphones on eavesdropping devices is up to 2 meters. Once in place you should then turn the dial to the ON position, adjust the volume of the acoustic speech-like noise (for non-silent operation) so that you can still hear the person you are talking to. You should hold conversations in a low voice, but so that you can still hear each other without repeating every word. It is recommended to use "TURBO" mode for higher efficiency in successfully jamming microphones. Do not switch on the acoustic speech-like signal when you want the device to be in covert operation. Note: this will somewhat reduces the efficiency of the device (the manufacturer cannot assure you that if you use only one ultrasonic signal device, will it jam all recorders). It is recommended that you connect the device to external speakers (e.g. computer speakers) through the built-in jack made for this application in order to be the most effective. This will help protect areas where private conversations are important from eavesdropping.
