- Are you trying to figure out how to get mini DV tapes onto today's computers? I used to have an old MacBook Pro that had a FireWire port in it, and it doesn't anymore and so I'm trying to figure out how exactly I can connect my DV camera, which is old-school, you know the little mini DV tapes? Who remembers those? I got to bunch of those 'cause I've been working with video for 15 years now. But my mom's computer, I noticed, had a FireWire port but I needed the DV cable for it because it's an 800 FireWire. I think it was 800 FireWire as opposed to a 400 FireWire which is the cord that I had. So, I got on Amazon and I had to order something so that I could get to my long-lost memories, which hopefully I'll get to share some of those with you guys.
