hi i'm jordan jackson with security central in this video i'm going to explain to you how a glass break sensor works we're gonna be working with the Honeywell Audio glass break sensor let me give you a little background first in the old days back in the 70s and 80s glass break sensors were actually vibration sensors they mounted on the glass and when the glass rattled it would trigger an alarm unfortunately they were prone to false alarms because thunder or trucks driving by or other things could also cause that window to rattle without it actually breaking so technology advanced and changed to an audio sound discriminator that listens for the sound of breaking glass when glass breaks to sounds actually occur the first is a low frequency thud when the glass is hit hard enough to break it the second is the high frequency sound of the shattering glass so a glass break sensor wants to hear
