Hey, DIY-ers. Dylan here with Alarm Grid. Today, we're going over can I connect my Simon XTi or Simon XTi-5 to WiFi? The short answer is no, you cannot. The Simon XTi does not have a WiFi option built in, nor does it have a slot to insert a WiFi module. The Simon XTi does have a phone line jack, so you can connect this to a phone line and do monitoring that way. However, that is not recommended as phone line is a bit antiquated and not really reliable technology. And also, does not give you access to control of the system remotely or get notifications remotely as well. But that's besides the point. So how this does connect to monitoring without using the phone line is actually using a cell module, a cell card. So this device gets installed into the panel. It will give the panel access to be registered to alarm.com, which is an online service that dealers will use to register systems. So
