I'm going to replace this ball catch with some magnetic rare earth magnets that look just like these and come in packs of eight from Amazon for six bucks the magnets are exactly 1/2 inch so I'm going to have a mark both on the door and then also on the jamb so the day align and I'm going to drill a shallow eighth of an inch deep 1/2 inch hole and here's with a 1/2 inch hole drilled and under here and the corresponding spot in the jamb next I'm going to use some of this jb weld just a really small amount just that much and I'm going to mix it around together smash in the holes and then drop the magnets in and when this isn't a key anymore it's nice and hard like this you'll know that it's set and it just takes a couple of minutes the stuff sets up pretty quick and then once it's done some you've got your magnetic door latch and now that you get the jb weld in let's make sure you have the
