To install the Norton 9500 Cast Iron Door Closer, you’ll need these tools: A drill with a number 7 and 3/16 bit, a one-quarter 20 tap, a hammer, and a center punch. You’ll also need a tape measure, a Phillips screwdriver, a pencil, and three wrenches: 5/16, 7/16, and adjustable. In the box, you’ll find installation instructions for regular, parallel and top jamb mounting. Select the mounting appropriate for your door. For this door, we’re installing the closer on the push side, using the standard parallel arm. This installation uses a metal frame and a wooden door. We’ll be using a combination of machine and self-drilling screws. First, locate the holes for the closer mounting bracket. The measurements are made using the centerline of the hinge as a reference. Mark and measure the mounting holes as shown on the template. Center punch the hole locations and drill the wood door with a 3/1
