one wire alternators are a popular charging option for street rod and restomod builds they're very convenient because they only require the main charge wire connection to function the only problem with this setup is as the name suggests a single wire alternator does not require the exciter feed wire responsible for turning off an in-dash charge indicator light if this wire is attached in a one wire application it can cause run on issues and potentially damage the alternator since the exciter wire in the harness no longer functions this means the battery or low voltage warning light in the dash will be illuminated anytime the car is running regardless of the state of charge one solution to this is to remove the charge warning light from the gauge cluster a more practical option is to install our 11 volt sensor module the module requires a simple 4 wire connection that allows one wire use
