Hello, and welcome to a POSCatch.com product presentation, and today we are presenting how to connect a cash drawer to a receipt printer. Now the most common way to do this is via a RJ cable and that is because most cash drawers today are what is called "receipt printer driven". That means that when the receipt printer prints a receipt it sends a signal down this cable to the back of the receipt printer that kicks open or fires the solenoid that will actually kick open the cash drawer. Now this is a standard RJ cash drawer cable. It looks like a standard telephone cable, but, however, it is not. It is a customized cable that is wired specifically for this application, so a regular telephone cable will not work, just a side note for you.
